Defining Variables in SPSS
Now that the operational definitions of your variables are ready, you can set up a new database in SPSS for your dissertation.
In this assignment, complete the following tasks:
Using the variables you identified in Prospectus Project Task II, create a new SPSS file for your study.
First, in the Variable View, create variables that could be used to explore the question/hypotheses you are interested in for your dissertation prospectus. You should have at least two categorical variables, each with two to four categories that could be used as IVs. You must also have at least four continuous level measurement variables in your database.
Note: These may be more than you elect to use for your final prospectus, but are needed for this course.
Then, fill in the information needed across the row to set up and define each variable in your set.
Name your SPSS file R7034_M2_A3_LastName_FirstInitial.sav and submit it to the Discussion Area by the due date assigned.
Through the end of the module, review the Variable View list from the SPSS file submitted by your partner, as assigned by your facilitator. Post your response highlighting whether the classmate has completed the following:
Created a new file in SPSS using the variables identified for the research question.
Defined each variable in the set, including at least two categorical and four continuous level measurement variables in Variable View.
