Fellow students:
1 I personally find papers difficult to write. Let us use this most recent paper as an example. This being a research paper, it means that a great deal of its writing will include tracking down valid sources of information to back my position. Other requirements, such as like the word count are also noted. My choice of topic for the paper is Obesity in America. It is my position is that obesity in the United States is a growing threat to the health of people in this country.
The first requirement after choosing my topic was to pool my information about it without does any prior research. This actually forced me to look a t my topic from more perspectives. Following that I began to gather sources, using resources provided by the AIU Library system. I chose to focus in on the primary contributing factors to American obesity’s growth over time.
Adapting APA style to my research and citation style is not an easy task for me, being much more familiar with MLA. Next came nailing down my thesis statement. I’d already brushed it in my pre-research but by this point I had to refine it. That was followed by a trip into enemy territory by writing in opposition of my own position using sources. A good paper takes into account counter arguments to the held position.
The current note on the agenda for this paper is to start bringing it all together. We’re starting with the writing of a dynamic introduction. This paper has proven more challenging to me than even I originally expected but has also allowed me to see this topic I chose from many different angles.
