Phone applications are now a integral part of our daily routine. On average we spend about 30-40 hours a month on these apps. They have become a powerful way for brands to build strong relationships with their consumers especially apps that take advantage of mobile app marketing. Mobile app marketing is a way for companies to advertise their brands that can complement a brands offline experience offering special deals that can help drive brand loyalty. This can create a problem for consumers mainly because it eliminates choice. Once brand loyalty is created consumers lose the option to choose another brand, which eliminates variety. Sometimes variety is good and with new app marketing that’s gone.
Since these apps are monitoring spending or searching habits they can create advertisements that are built specific to your needs. This intern is creating privacy issues for the consumer. Many Internet tracking software are out there tracking what we do and invading our privacy. I really think this is a violation that needs to be addressed. When we search in the privacy of our home are under the assumption that nobody or thing is watching what we are doing so we tend to lower our guard and search things that interests us s. For example, Google partnered with Ipsos MediaCT on custom research to uncover insights about mobile app user behavior, including app discovery, acquisition, usage, and abandonment. These tracking software’s are monitoring these searching’s and taking advantage of our interests.
