Save your introduction to me in Rich Text Format and upload this document here, to the Assignment Dropbox. Being able to save your documents in different formats so that other people can read them on their computers is an important technical writing skill. (RTF, Rich Text Format, is a file format that retains text formatting and can be opened by almost any other computer.) REMEMBER, YOU MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THIS ASSIGNMENT TO GO FORWARD IN THE CLASS.
Send me the exact same information as a file attachment via the Assignments tool that you sent me in your e-mail to me (see Sample Assignment: Introductions), describing your strengths and weaknesses as a writer and your goals for this class in a Rich Text Format (RTF) document. This is almost a universal format, one that allows documents to be opened by almost any computer in the world while preserving documents’ original formatting. You will find in Word, Works, Open Office, and Word Perfect that you can save your documents in RTF using “Save As…”
If you are having difficulty saving in Rich Text Format, go to your Help menu in whichever word-processing software you use (Word, Word Perfect, Open Office, etc.). Type in a likely search term to find information about saving a document in Rich Text Format. For example, try “rtf” as your search term.
