Group A: Those of you who did not have your project idea selected as a Team project will develop a Business Model Canvas for your business idea or a revised business idea that you have developed. This canvas will be supported by a written report where you will explain the business model and analyze the model for strengths and weaknesses. Finally, you will present suggestions for how you might alter the model, backed by your analysis, and how you will research issues to determine the optimal BMC. Where possible, please conduct interviews with potential customers or partners as part of your research. Your canvas analysis and conclusions must be supported with facts and with relevant information, insights and concepts drawn from course readings and outside research. Note – this is not a project that you will be able to complete at the last minute.
Group B: Those of you who had your business idea selected for a Team project, you will assess an existing innovative company and create a Business Model Canvas that describes the organization. Additionally, you will present suggestions for how you might alter the model, backed by your analysis. Where possible, please conduct interviews with someone in the organization as part of your research. We will be discussing many examples of innovative businesses during our class, but there are thousands of examples out there. It is critical that there is something unique and interesting about the company’s business model.Companies that are selected must be relatively small in size. No company analyzed in our readings or publicly listed companies will be approved. Additionally, the company you choose must not be one in which you, your family or friends are involved. It must not be smaller than $100 million in annual revenues. Your canvas analysis and conclusions must be supported with facts and with relevant information, insights and concepts drawn from course readings and outside research.
