- Select 2 organizations to research; 1 organization that does not have a represented workforce, and 1 that does. You may also use a single organization, but there must be both a represented workforce and a non-represented, non-management workforce.
- Research both organizations and prepare an 8-10 PowerPoint slide (excluding title & reference slides) presentation that addresses the following:
- Discuss the labor laws and federal agencies that monitor labor management relationships.
- Describe the role of labor relations in both organizations, including the similarities and differences of labor relations in union and nonunion organizations.
- Discuss the bargaining agreement; what is it, and how is it defined by each side?
- What is the responsibility of the organization in addressing the need of employees who wish to organize and become unionized (a represented workplace)?
- What are the responsibilities of unions when seeking to represent a workforce?
- Discuss the process for negotiating a labor agreement.
- Define differences between arbitration and judicial proceedings.
