Why do we have to write a paper?
To master the following: to identify and evaluateget better acquainted with the writing process, and (last, but most importantly) to demonstrate your knowledge of science in a written format, as required for Gen Ed Natural Science courses.
Instructions for the References List
All of the assignments associated with the environmental debate will collectively add up to 5% of your grade.
You will submit your References list on paper, in lab, on the 7st of Feb (this coming Friday).
Due dates are firm – extensions will not be made.
Due Friday in lab, on Paper (typed, of course): A 3-source References Cited page featuring three papers or sources you have tracked down. These must be peer-reviewed. You will use APA format.
Submissions after lab will get feedback, but 0 points.
Rubric for the Bib:
3 points: “Reference List” title included. Excellent sources that contain scientific data in support of position from agencies or groups that are credible and peer-reviewed. Format correct.
2.5 points: Same as above, but “Reference List” title lacking. Format correct.
2 points: Some sources are reviews, but not actually peer-reviewed, but directly support topic; lack quantity and quality of scientific data. Format correct.
1.5 points: One or more sources are questionable, but directly support topic; lack quantity and quality of scientific (or economic, if appropriate) data and/or format is not correct.
1 point: Sources are generally on topic, but little or no scientific (or economic, if appropriate) data. Format is not correct.
0 points: References list is turned in after lab, or directions have clearly not been read. Neither TA nor instructor know where to start to give meaningful feedback.
